N. Copernicus Regional Specialist Hospital in Łódź

Improved working ergonomics for the production of radioisotopes

The N. Copernicus Province Multidisciplinary Center of Oncology and Traumatology in Lodz, Poland needed a solution for the production of technetium-99 (Tc-99m) for medical diagnostic procedures. They issued a tender in which they collected all of their requirements. There was only one company that was able to offer a fitting solution: Mediso Polska. This supplier of nuclear medicine and imaging techniques in Poland is a long term partner of Von Gahlen.

Streekziekenhuis Koningin Beatrix

Our references

Recently we finished a project in our own backyard. Just a bit further east from our HQ in Zevenaar, there is a hospital called Streekziekenhuis Koningin Beatrix (SKB) in Winterswijk, close to the German border. Since the summer of 2020, the nuclear medicine department houses a PET/CT scan. This project started in 2017 and obviously includes more inventory than just the PET/CT scan. That is where Von Gahlen came in.

Essential Isotopes

Our references

Our customer Essential Isotopes is based in Columbia, Missouri. This company is located on the campus of the University of Missouri from where it provides Mid-Missouri with radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging. The main source for Essential Isotopes’ productions is a cyclotron facility equipped with Von Gahlen hot cells. For Essential Isotopes there was a need to expand the capacity of the lab. Therefore Von Gahlen built and installed a new Dual Chemical Enclosure (DCE), designed to house synthesis modules.

In Western Australia there is a place that accommodates two Stacked Synthesis hot cells and a Shielded Laminar Hood (SLH) made by Von Gahlen. These machines are operating in the PET laboratory of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) in Perth. This laboratory is the sole supplier of cyclotron generated PET radiopharmaceuticals to Western Australian patients. It provides in excess of 20,000 PET radiopharmaceutical doses per year for the diagnosis, staging and management in oncology, cardiology and neurology.

Helse Bergen Haukeland University Hospital

Our references

We build long lasting, sustainable products. To back up such a claim, we thought it would be good to look back on a project that was delivered a while ago, and see how things are today. That is why we introduce Helse Bergen Haukeland University Hospital in Norway. In 2008 we delivered eight hot cells, four shielded laminar air flow hoods (LAF), a shielded fume hood and various other shielding products.

RTM Nijmegen

Our references

Radboudumc is a university medical center located in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. It was back in 2001 when Radboudumc started evaluating the possibilities for a cyclotron facility, as this was considered an important missing link in the translational chain. The ambitions were shelved for a while, but accelerated in 2011 when a subsidy from the European Regional Development Fund was awarded. Consequently, 2011 is also the year that marks the foundation of Radboud Translational Medicine (RTM).
